7 Ways To Have The Coolest Car This Summer
What a summer! Every few weeks seems to herald a new heatwave. Whether or not you’re a fan (pun intended) of the heat, don’t forget about your 4-wheeled bestie.
If underground parking is not an option and your garage is now a makeshift storeroom, try these other cooling tips to turn down the heat for you and your car this summer:
- Keep it covered – if you don’t plan to use your vehicle, keep your car cover on to protect the paint and keep the heat out.
- Give that gym towel a purpose – cover your steering wheel with a towel, even when using a car visor, to keep the contact temperature down. No more hot-potato steering wheel!
- Get shady – using car visors in the front and back will help reduce the heating effect of the sun.
- Fan it – if you want to be extra cool (in more ways than one), get yourself a solar powered fan to keep your car cool while you’re away. You’ll be smiling when you get back into your vehicle.
- Pump up the aircon – put it on full blast for 20 seconds or so and open your back windows slightly to push the hot air out before you drive off.
- Check your battery! No really, check your battery as often as you do your fuel station checks to avoid an overheating car mid-trip.
- Hydrate, hydrate and hydrate – keep an eye on your car fluids with those fuel station checks, because evaporation can very quickly turn your car into a flaming Lambo.
In all honesty, the best way to prevent sun damage is to stay out of the sun – but we all know that’s not always possible. So try these tips and let us know how it goes. If you’re brave enough to take it up a notch, you could even opt for reflective paint on your roof to reflect the heat. Go on, live your way – make your car the coolest one on the block and look after it with comprehensive car insurance!
